NDIS Pricing Updates October 2019
The NDIA have released an updated NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue 2019-20. It is effective 1 October 2019. The main update is the inclusion of more than 90 new or updated disability-related health support items.
The update is a result of the Council of Australian Government’s Disability Reform Council meeting in June. It was decided that the NDIS will fund a range of disability-related health supports. They must be part of the participant’s daily life and result directly from their disability.
The typical types of support required by NDIS participants can be grouped into eight ‘support type’ categories:
Continence supports
Diabetic management supports
Dysphagia supports
Epilepsy supports
Nutrition support
Podiatry supports
Respiratory supports
Wound and pressure care supports
Please note that the above list is not exhaustive, and supports may be delivered in a range of ways. A more detailed list is on the Department of Social services website.
There are five types of disability-related health supports in the NDIS Support Catalogue and Price Guide:
Provision of disability-related health supports by disability support workers
-These should be claimed under Daily Personal Activities and High Intensity Daily Personal Activities support items
Assessment, planning and the provision of disability-related health supports by therapists
-These supports should be claimed using the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) and Therapy support items
Assessment, planning and the provision of disability-related health support by nurses or training of support workers to deliver these services
-These supports should be claimed using the new nursing support items
Consumables related to disability-related health supports
-These supports should be claimed using the new low-cost or high-cost disability related health consumables support line items
Assistive technology (AT) related to disability-related health supports
-These supports should be claimed using the new disability related health AT support line items
