Too many rules to track? Let Obligations do the heavy lifting
We know that managing obligations - whether they come from regulatory bodies, internal policies, or funding agreements - is absolutely critical for service providers in the NDIS, Aged Care, and local government sectors. But let’s be honest… it’s often a messy, fragmented process. Spreadsheets get lost, responsibilities get blurred, and when audits come around, stress levels spike. That’s exactly why we here at Centro ASSIST built the new Obligations feature in the Web App - to give community-focused organisations a clearer, simpler way to stay on top of what matters most.
Obligations, in plain English, are the things your organisation must do to meet external or internal requirements. For NDIS providers, that could mean demonstrating how you uphold participant rights, keeping robust records for incident management, or showing that staff are suitably trained and qualified. These aren’t just boxes to tick… they’re the backbone of delivering safe, person-centred support. The challenge is keeping everything organised, visible, and auditable, especially when standards change, new guidelines roll in, or key staff move on. That’s where Centro’s Obligations feature steps in.
Rolling out this week across Centro QMS Starter, QMS, and KMS plans, this powerful new enhancement comes pre-loaded with over 250 individual obligations mapped to the NDIS Practice Standards. That means providers can instantly see a structured breakdown of requirements aligned to key outcomes - yep, without having to build it all from scratch. It’s like having a roadmap to compliance, already laid out, and ready to customise. For example, you might see an obligation under ‘Governance and Operational Management’ requiring your organisation to have a system in place for continuous improvement - and now you can track that obligation, assign responsibility, attach evidence, and update its status all in one place.
Let’s take a few more examples. Under the ‘Provision of Supports’ module, an obligation may state that participants must be involved in decisions about their supports. You can now create a clear record showing how your team ensures this - whether through documentation, staff training, or survey feedback. Under ‘Worker Screening’, you might track the obligation that all staff in risk-assessed roles must have current NDIS Worker Screening Checks. If you’re running a shared living service, another obligation may relate to ensuring that participants have access to complaints mechanisms - and again, you’ll have a structured way to show how your service delivers on that responsibility.
What makes this feature really powerful is the flexibility. You’re not locked into a rigid framework. You can add your own obligations from other standards, such as Aged Care Quality Standards, internal policy commitments, or local government frameworks. You can group obligations by themes, link them to evidence in your document library, and most importantly - assign owners. That means your team knows exactly who’s responsible for what, with a full audit trail behind every update.
So whether you're a disability support provider preparing for a certification audit, a coordinator building internal quality processes, or a local government service tracking community care standards, Centro’s new Obligations feature helps you cut through the noise, reduce risk, and show exactly how you’re meeting your responsibilities.
